James Patrick Dougherty a former resident of South Blooming Grove,NY died suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday November 2, 2011 at his home in Manhattan. James was born on May 3, 1970 in Brooklyn NY to Thomas and Mary Dougherty. James was raised in S. Blooming Grove where he attended and graduated from Washingtonville schools. He moved to Manhattan in 1996. James was employed as a stage hand at the Metropolitan Opera in NYC. He was also a member of local 1, Stage Hands Union.
Mr. Dougherty is survived by his mother Mary his father Thomas and step mother Irene. His sister Mary Louise Dougherty of Tennessee, his brothers Liam Edward Dougherty of Blooming Grove, Thomas Elliot of Monroe and Daniel Williams of Virginia and many nieces and nephews. James was pre-deceased by a sister Elizabeth Ann Dougherty.
James’ funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday November 7, 2011, 10:00AM at the Good Shepherd RC, Church on Broadway in the Inwood Section of Manhattan. The family will be present to receive friends on Sunday from 2-5 & 7-9 PM. At the Riverdale Funeral Home Inc. 5044 Broadway at 214th Street, NYC.
