Obituary of Mary Bournazos

Mary Bournazos,age 78 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday June 21, 2018. She was born on October 20, 1939 in New York, NY to Sideris and Antonia (Moutafis) Politis. Mom graduated high school in Corona, Queens, NY and went to work at PanAm Airlines as an administrative assistant. She often spoke about her two bosses who held her in the highest regard. Mary married Aristotle Bournazos on September 29, 1962. Together they had three children, Nicholas, Steve (Angela) and Karen (Gus) Koutsoubis. They raised their children in Flushing Queens and would later move to White Plains, NY where Mary and Aristotle have remained since. Mary was a homemaker who took pride in taking care of her husband and three children. Her guidance, love and nurturing quality waas shown not only to her family, but shared with the many friends who have been with her for the greater part of her life. In her early days Mary loved to play tennis, go bowling, paint pottery, knit, read and do crossword puzzles. Mary loved to cook for family and friends and prepared some of the best Greek meals you ever ate. Her signature dishes were spanakopita, souzoukakia, and loukoumades. Mary was also a collector who took pride in her collection of Royal Doulton mugs and Lladro figurines all of which can still be seen on display in her home. Mary also collected stamps with her children and attended many stamp shows during her early years. Mary is survived by her husband, Aristotle, her three children, Nicholas, Steve (Angela) and Karen (Gus) Koutsoubis and her four loving grandchildren, Christian and Angelica Koutsoubis and Alexa and Aristotle Bournazos. She is survived by her brothers Nicholas (Richard Des Jardins), George and was predeceased by her brothers Gus and Frank Politis. She will repose Sunday June-24-18 from 4-8PM at the McMahon, Lyon, and Hartnett Funeral Home Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains, NY. Funeral Services will be held at the Church of Our Saviour Westchester Avenue, Rye, NY Monday June-25-2018 with burial to follow at Greenwood Union Cemetery, Rye, NY. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Basil's Academy, Garrison, NY

It is with every hope in the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ that we inform you of the falling asleep of Mrs. Mary Bournazos. She is the beloved wife to our own Aristotle Bournazos for 56 years. Mother to Nicholas Bournazos, Steven (Angela) Bournazos and Karen (Gus) Koutsoubis. Grandmother to Christian and Angelica Koutsoubis and Alexa and Aristotle Bournazos. Sister to Nicholas Politis, George Politis , predeceased by her brothers Constantine Politis and Frank Politis. She will be truly missed by many family and friends.
