Obituary of Constantine Giviskos

Constantine “Gus” Giviskos passed away on June 17, 2018 after a short battle with cancer. Born October 25, 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio, Gus graduated from Rhodes High School in 1959, where he was co-captain of the football team. He was a varsity track and field athlete at Miami University (Ohio) and graduated in 1963. He moved to New York City and worked in multiple finance positions while pursuing an MBA at New York University, which he completed in 1969. While in New York, Gus met and married his wife of 50 years, Mary Lynne (Beatty) on May 18, 1968. After living in Darien, Connecticut and Burke, Virginia, Gus and Lynne moved to Morristown, New Jersey for Gus to pursue his career as a Certified Financial Planner with A.G. Edwards & Sons, where he eventually became a Vice President and managed branches in Montclair, Millburn, and Princeton. In 2006, he stepped down from his branch manager role and became affiliated with offices in New York and later Sarasota, Florida. He became a member of the New York Athletic Club and greatly enjoyed its events and facilities. He retired in 2016 and had been living in Sarasota while spending summers in Mantoloking, New Jersey. In addition to his chosen profession, Gus loved travel, cars, food, wine, a good party, and the Cleveland Indians. He was devoted to his family and he is greatly missed.
Gus was predeceased by his parents George and Christina (Vekos), his sister Katherine Nonis, and his beloved dog Theo. In addition to his wife Lynne, survivors include his daughter Christine of Skillman, New Jersey, her husband Douglas Herring, and their two daughters; his daughter Anne of Paris, France, her husband Laurent Gaisne, and their two sons; and his sister Maria Gary of New York. Visitation will be from 5 to 8pm on Thursday June 21 at Saint George Greek Orthodox Church, 307 West 54th Street, New York, NY. Funeral will be Friday June 22 at 11am, also at Saint George. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Saint George Greek Orthodox Church.
