Robert J. Carolan Sr. on August 15, 2016. Born in NYC on October 7, 1925, he was 90 years old. Upon graduation from Power Memorial High School he entered the US Navy, serving in the Pacific during the Second World War including Leyte Gulf and Okinawa. He was awarded the Phillipine Liberation Ribbon with one star and the Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal with two stars. After leaving the Navy, he was employed by the Communications Division of the New York City Fire Department for 60 years. Beloved husband of the late Kathleen, nee Woods. He is survived by his loving children, Robert Jr. of Yonkers, NY, Stephen and his wife Mary Ellen of Rock Tavern, NY, Mary of Hopewell Junction, NY, Edward and his wife Louise of Moscow, PA, Regina Ericksen and her husband Brian of Berkeley Heights, NJ, & 2 infant children who died at birth, Kathleen and John. Proud grandfather of 10: Stephen Jr., Michael, Joseph, and Dennis Carolan, Joseph, Thomas and Stephanie Carolan, James Ericksen, Sarah Sullivan, her husband Sean, and Thomas Ericksen. Reposing Riverdale Funeral Home Inc., 5044 Broadway at 214th St., NYC, Tuesday August 23, 2016 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at Good Shepherd Wednesday 10AM. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Woodside, NY.
