Obituary of Elizabeth Kiorpes-Gevas

Elly passed peacefully on September 4th, 2018. A Beloved wife to George for 69 Years, Elly was born and raised in Yonkers, New York. After marrying George, she raised her family in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY. Elly was an active member of the Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church in Yonkers and Ladies Philoptochos and Mr. and Mrs. Club at the Church. Elly graduated from NYU Bellevue School of Nursing. For many years Elly worked as a Registered Nurse at Yonkers General Hospital in their Operating Room, Emergency Room and Pediatric Ward. Later in her career she was also a Teacher in the Yonkers Boces School System changing and inspiring the lives of many students. Along with her Husband George she is survived by her two loving children Annette and her husband Jack Bolinsky of Myrtle Beach, SC and Tom Gevas of Chicago, IL. A Cherished Yiayia to Elizabeth and Jacquelyn Bolinsky of Washington D.C., as well as the Dear Sister to two surviving brothers, Stephen Kiorpes of Birmingham, AL and George Kiorpes of Greensboro, NC., and Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Elly will be remembered for her endless smile, gourmet cooking, awesome cocktail & dinner parties, the twinkle in her eyes, and most of all the timeless love she showed too all of her family and friends. She will be dearly missed by all of her friends and family. Visiting for Elly will take place at the Community Home For Funeral by Sinatra, 601 Yonkers Avenue Yonkers, NY 10704 on Wednesday September 12th from 4-8PM. Funeral Liturgy Services will take place on Thursday September 13th at 10:00AM at Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church, 15 Leroy Ave., Yonkers, NY 10705. Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery located in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY 10706. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any of the following three recipients: Prophet Elias Church of Yonkers, NY 10705.
