Obituary of Penelope Damascus

Damascus, Penelope (Nee Vans) of Ardsley for 62 years. Beloved wife of Adam James Damascus for 66 years. Devoted mother of James, Kyriaco, Dennis and Peter. Loving Grandmother of 8 and great grandmother of 2. Dear sister of Nick Vans of Milwaukee and Deanne Buphys of Athens, Greece. She is survived also by many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Funeral Service at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 10 Mill Rd, New Rochelle, NY Friday at 12 noon. Family will receive friends and relatives at the church Friday 10-12 noon. In lieu of flowers donations to Smiletrain PO Box 96331 Washington DC 20090-6231 can be made in her memory. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin November 2, 1928. Went to school there and graduated from Marquette University with a degree in dental hygiene. Received a Masters of Science graduate degree from Columbia University. She married Adam James Damascus in 1951 and moved to NYC and then in 1954 moved to and remained in Ardsley, NY till today. She was an avid gardener and tennis enthusiast. She was a long time parishioner of Holy Trinity Church in Mt. Vernon and subsequent move to New Rochelle.
