Muriel Helen Hummel, 80, passed away Friday, August 12, 2016 at Bethel Health Care Center in Bethel, Connecticut after her struggle with congestive heart failure came to an end. She is survived by her nephews Paul Hummel, Christopher Hummel (and his sons Chris Jr. and Cole), John Hummel, Jr., Brian Hummel (and his wife Candace and their son Griffin); her niece, Jennifer Hummel; as well as countless loved ones in New York, Texas and Connecticut. She was born and raised in New York City, the daughter of William and Helen Hummel, sister to predeceased brothers, William, Donald and John. In her early years, she attended Cabrini High School and was a devoted employee of Caltex Petroleum Corporation for 46 years. She was an avid golfer and bowler but her greatest love was traveling the world, especially visiting Ireland, as she was very proud of her Irish heritage. She was very involved with works of charity and the church. She was an active member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Southbury, Connecticut. There, she enjoyed serving as a Eucharistic Minister. Muriel loved a good drink and socializing, as well as attending Broadway plays. She had a wonderful smile that would light up the room.
