Obituary of George T Chapkines

George T. Chapkines passed away on February 15, 2019. George was raised in Washington Heights and Inwood, where he spent most of his life but for his time in the army, where he served for nearly 2 years in Paris, France in the early 1950’s. He has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Pace College and an M.B.A. from Columbia University. He taught accounting at various colleges and universities in New York City. Most of all, George loved to dance! He loved Greek dancing and could also be found at swing events all around town, including Summer in the City at Lincoln Center. George will be missed by his cousins, Maria, Diane, Jason and Michael, and their parents, Helen and George and Effie and Jeff and his many friends. Friends and family will gather at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church 124 Wadsworth Avenue NYC, NY 10040 on Friday February 22, 2019 from 9:30AM-10:00AM with a funeral service to start immediately following at the Church at 10:00AM. George will then be layed to rest at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton Long Island, New York. May His Memory Be Eternal!
