Athena Stamataky died peacefully in her home in Inwood New York at the age of 96 years old on October 17, 2024. Athena was the devoted wife of John Stamataky, beloved sister of Olga Ikaris and aunt to Alexander Ikaris. She was the loving mother of Harry and Evans Stamataky, and an adoring Yiayia to Danielle, Jamie, Christopher, and her beautiful great grandsons.

Athena was a proud and active member of the Ladies of the Philoptochos Society of St. Spyridon. She generously dedicated her time and service to the St Spyridon community for many years, and loved every moment working with the wonderful women there.  Her spirit was kind and respectful, and she will be remembered for the love and thoughtfulness she gave to everyone she encountered.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society at St Spyridon Church (124 Wadsworth Avenue NY NY 10033).

Viewing and funeral mass will be held on Tuesday October 22, 2024 at 10:30 am at St. Spyridon Church. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Westchester County 50 Jackson Ave, Hastings-on-Hudson,NY. May Her Memory Be Etenal!!
