Maxine B. Vavosa (nee Braaf), 75 of Paramus, formerly of NY, NY, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024, just five months after her beloved husband, Walter. Maxine was a homemaker and previously worked as a Medical Office Manager for her father’s medical practice. She earned a doctorate from New York University. She enjoyed volunteering her time for various organizations in Paramus. She was a member of the Fritz Behnke Histrorical Museum, Paramus S.A.L.T. (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) committee, Paramus Substance Abuse committee, Paramus CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) and was co-chairwoman of Paramus National Night Out for very many years. She was extremely artistic which she put forth in doing the Books & Beyond wall mural for Stony Lane Elementary School in Paramus for over 10 years along with offering her art skills throughout her children’s school years for a variety of school events. She loved expressing her creativity and impeccable artistic abilities, creating paintings, building miniature dollhouses & structures.




Treasured wife of 45 years to the late Walter; loving mother of Frederic and his fiancée, Suzanne, Nicole and her husband, Brian and Matthew; predeceased by her parents Dr. Murray and Hazel (nee Lehman).




A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Wellwood Cemetery, 1500 Wellwood Avenue, West Babylon, NY. The family will hold a celebration of life for both Maxine & Walter at a later date.
