Obituary of Vasiliki Coshonis Zacharias

Vasiliki (Bessie) Coshonis Zacharias of Florida and formerly of Trumbull, CT passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2017 in West Palm Beach, FL. Bessie was born on June 26, 1921 in Worcester, MA to Zafira and Marcus Coshonis, the youngest of four children. She moved to Bridgeport, CT where she met her future husband, Jim, was married in 1950, and started a family shortly thereafter. Bessie attended secretarial school and had a successful career working in senior administrative capacities for Sikorsky and Warnaco while at the same time caring for her husband, children, Mother, and extended family. She was a remarkable woman who unselfishly served others before attending to her needs. A strong women who was dedicated to her faith, her family, and her community, Bessie worked tirelessly so all she touched was perfect. Bessie was an active member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and supported many of the Parish’s organizations. She is survived by her sons Charles (Christine), Michael, and Peter as well as grandchildren Alexander, James, Peter, Carolyn, and Stephanie. Bessie was predeceased by her parents, her husband Jim, her sisters Pauline Perakis and Helen Hiotakis, and brother John Coshonis. The family would like to thank St. Joseph Assisted Living in Jupiter FL and Morse Geriatric in West Palm Beach for their love, care, and attention over the last several years. The dignity they granted her will be remembered always. The family invites friends at 9:30 am Tuesday, June 27th at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 4070 Park Avenue, Bridgeport for visitation followed by a Funeral Service and interment at Lakeview Cemetery.
