Obituary of Clarita Hanley
Clarita Hanley was born March 23, 1924 to the late Roselin Cornelious and Theophilus Hanley on the beautiful USVI of St Croix. She attended St. Patrick's Roman Catholic school and church. When she completed her education, she migrated to New York at the age of 15. As time passed by, Clarita found employment working as a seamstress in the garment district. Her last employment was with Bloomingdales until her retirement in 1987.
Clarita enjoyed traveling, sewing, and knitting. She also enjoyed storytelling, cooking and baking. Not to mention her famous carrot cake. They were so good; they could have been sold in stores.
Some of her favorite foods from St. Croix were red pea soup. kalaloo, Johnny cake and chicken wings.
When Clarita was home relaxing, she enjoyed listening to her old records while sipping on a glass of Martini. Which had to have green olives, pearl onions and blue cheese.
Clarita was a classy woman who exuded confidence, elegance and sophistication. She was soft spoken, loving and a wonderful aunt and friend to many and lived life well. Not only did Clarita live a long life, but she also lived life well with no regrets.
Today, we will forever remember Clarita for her love, beautiful smile, her gift of giving to others (and there were many) and her big warm heart.
