Dorothy DePasquale, age 96, passed away on Friday April 5, 2024. Dorothy was a proud and long-term Manhattan resident who took great pride in “her” city and her neighborhood. Born March 2, 1928, she was one of five sisters (Dominica, Gloria, Betty, and Anne)and one brother (Ralph). She served in the US Air Force as an “Airman First Class” from May of 1952 till honorably and voluntarily discharged in May 1955. Dorothy served admirably for several decades as a nurse for several Manhattan area hospitals. She was an avid traveler as well, having visited Greece, Italy, and many other countries, all of which gave Dorothy a very diverse and well-informed perspective of the world. She was active in her community in the Fort Washington area and was involved in many projects supporting safety and renewal within Washington Heights. She was a beloved member of the Mother Cabrini Catholic community, and also supported activities with The Cloisters, both located near Fort Tryon. Dorothy was an energetic and independent person who prided herself in her accomplishments both at home and within the neighborhood. She was a wonderful aunt and sister, and she will be missed by her remaining family. Surviving family members include brother Ralph DePasquale and wife Shirley, niece Julie Edwards and husband David, niece Pam LeBlanc and husband Michael, niece Adria DePasquale, nephew Marcus DePasquale, nephew Wade Sproviero and wife Rhonda, and nephew Robert Kindermann and wife Peggy. As a military veteran, Dorothy will be interred at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida in the near future.
