Obituary of Hilario Perez Cuevas
Hilario Perez-Cuevas, affectionately known as Julin or Cuevas, of Washington Heights, Manhattan, passed away on March 3, 2024. On November 30, 1936, Sofia and Julio Perez welcomed him into the world in his lovely homeland of Barahona, Dominican Republic.
His early years were shared with his many siblings, surrounded by light hearted jokes that kept their community energized and laughing. His surroundings later fostered in him a love of both the arts and medicine, which he carried and shared throughout his life. As a pharmacist in the Dominican Republic, Hilario, worked alongside doctors in the emergency room, and cared for many individuals, compassionately improving their health and morale. He was a purveyor of joy and love; In his free time he would be found alongside his brother Julio Elpido, singing melodically in clubs, and his brother accompanying him on the Spanish guitar.
Hilario’s legacy is carried forward by his children: Maribel, Julio, Yessenia, Katiria, and Liniris, and his 9 grandchildren: Marisabel, Angelica, Reinaldo, Amanda, Xiomara, Khloe, Kylie, Katherine and Matthew.
A service to honor Hilario’s life will be held on Thursday March 7, 2024, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Riverdale Funeral Home, located at 5044 Broadway, New York, NY 10034.
On March 8, 2024, beginning at 10:00 a.m. family and friends will be given the opportunity to say their final goodbyes.
Interment will begin at 11:00 a.m. Hilario will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, located at 10 W Stevens Ave, Hawthorne, NY 10532.
