Obituary of Aspacia Nunez

Aspacia Nunez, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2024 in New York City, at the age of 93. Born on February 12, 1930, in the Dominican Republic, Aspacia was a devoted mother to Isabel, Ivelisse, Vinicio and Rafael.

In 1963, Aspacia moved to New York City. Despite being in a new country, where she didn’t speak the language, she was able to accomplish amazing feats and raise an accomplished and caring family.  She serves as an example of the terrific impact we are all capable of regardless of our circumstances.

 She embraced her role as the matriarch of the Nunez family and was known affectionately as "Mama" by all who knew her, Aspacia's nurturing nature brought joy and warmth to anyone she touched. She found great pleasure in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, whom she adored.

She enjoyed watching her family eat her amazing meals and going to play bingo with her friends in all of her favorite Manhattan neighborhoods.

Aspacia created lasting memories with her family. Her legacy lives on through her 9 adoring grandchildren and 16 cherished great-grandchildren. Her unconditional love, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her family will be deeply missed. Her life will be celebrated and remembered by all whose lives she touched.

Aspacia Nunez entered into rest on Saturday, January 20, 2024. 

Visitation will be at The Riverdale Funeral Home, 5044 Broadway New York, NY 10034 on Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 4pm to 8pm.

Funeral Mass will be held at Good Shepherd RC Church, 608 Isham Street, NY NY 11:00am.

Burial will follow at Saint Raymonds Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Ave, Bronx NY.
