Obituary of Kevin Adams

Please share a memory of Kevin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Kevin J Adams, 80, of Yonkers, NY passed away on December 22, 2023 after a long and difficult battle with Covid.

Kevin was born on July 30, 1943 to Robert and Gertrude Adams in Manhattan. After Kevin graduated from high school he took his first job working in a company mail room.  During the Vietnam War he was in the Marine Corp Reserves.

He attended school at night to get his bachelors degree from Hunter College, while working for the NYC Department of Sanitation.  He passed the fire department exam and was excited to transfer to the Fire Department of NYC in 1973, following in the footsteps of his older brother, Richard.

In 1974, Kevin met Connie, and they were married in 1976.  Kevin and Connie went on to have 2 children, Mark and Lauren.

Kevin served the FDNY in the Bronx until his retirement in 2002, primarily in Ladder 47, Ladder 33, and Battalion 17.  He loved the job, and worked tirelessly alongside his brothers in the aftermath of 9/11.

Kevin is survived by his former wife, Connie, his children, Mark and Lauren, their spouses, Roselyn and Justin, and his grandchildren, Dean, Alexandra, Emilia, Nicholas, Robert, and Kevin.

Services will be held on Saturday, December 23. The wake will be from 11am-1pm at Community Funeral Home (formerly Sinatra), located at 601 Yonkers Ave, Yonkers, NY. The funeral will follow, at 2pm at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, at 10 Mill Road, New Rochelle, NY 10804. Lunch to follow immediately afterward, in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, an organization Kevin felt strongly about.
