Please share a memory of Roy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
New York - Roy Arthur Ramoutar, 48, passed on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at the Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, N.Y.
Roy Arthur Ramoutar was born on Wednesday, August 6, 1975, in the city of San Fernando, Trinidad to two loving parents, Arthur & Daisy Ramoutar. His siblings include Rene Ramoutar, Rodney Ramoutar (deceased), Randolph Ramoutar, and Geeta Bennie (aunt) who was considered more like a sister to him.
He attended the Chaguanas Senior Comprehensive High School and graduated in 1990. He went on to earn training in the construction industry.
Roy and his wife Sonia have been together for 25 years. He lived in Brooklyn when he arrived in the U.S. and later on moved to Washington Heights where he resided with Sonia and Steven. After, they lived in the Bronx for a period of time before moving to Garnerville, NY.
He worked at C&S Hardware store. He then moved on to Trieste Construction Corp. in Long Island City where his skills in the construction industry began to develop. Upon his passing, he was the project manager for Formia Marble & Stone Inc. located at Roselle, N.J. Roy loved and respected his boss as he would address him and his coworkers were not just coworkers, they were his family. He was referred to as "The Mayor" by his neighbors and at his workplace because he made sure that everything was taken care of.
Roy was an extraordinary man whose essence cannot be encapsulated in mere words. His magnetic personality left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered, turning strangers into friends with his warm and genuine demeanor. Above all, Roy's unwavering love for his family, Sonia, Steven, Ethan, and Blu, was the cornerstone of his life, and he placed them at the forefront of all his endeavors. On a global scale, Roy was renowned for his unparalleled ability to connect and forge deals, making him the titan in the business world. He cherished his toys, dedicating meticulous attention to every detail, never compromising on quality. Yet, he remained a humble, hardworking individual who found joy in his trade, sharing stories of his work with enthusiasm. Roy's generosity knew no bounds, as he selflessly supported his loved ones and anyone in need. His wisdom was infectious, and his presence provided comfort to all fortunate enough to know him. He touched countless lives in unimaginable ways, and as we bid farewell, we are left with the legacy of a remarkable son, brother, husband, father, and friend, who we believe is now orchestrating celestial deals at the right hand of God.
Roy is survived by his wife, Sonia, and his sons, Steven and Ethan. His mother, Daisy, and brothers Rene & Randolph, and Geeta that was like a sister to him, aunts, uncles, cousins, and nephews. Among Roy’s family members who are all saddened by this, he leaves behind his beloved dog, Blu. No other creature in this world could claim the title of “ Man’s Best Friend” than his ‘ surrogate child’ - BLU.
Roy is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Ramoutar, and brother, Rodney Ramoutar.
