“If Tears Could Build A Stairway”
If Tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane. I would walk right up to heaven and bring you back again. But I know you want me to mourn no more; To remember all the happy times life still has much in store.
We’ll always remember that special smile, that caring heart, that warm embrace, you always gave us in person and by telephone daily. You being there for mom and us, through good times and bad times, no matter what. We’ll always remember you dad because they’ll never be another one to replace you in our hearts, and the love we will have for you. Amen.

To the Alicea Family who I know better as my second family or apt 1F , I don’t know where to even begin your dad was a very special man and friend and to me the last person with my dad’s memory’s every time I would drive by the neighborhood your dad was at his window waving hello and I would stop and say hello and find out was new in the neighborhood and the call out to Sheila, Jackie’s here and then both would be at the window and we would talk for a min I love them both so much , love guys I share you pain and your lost because he was like another dad to me xoxoxoxo Jackie Zambrana

To the beautiful Alicea family, I am so sorry for your loss. I am also sorry for our beautiful neighborhood, for Inwood and cooper street who lost a giant of a man who was quite literally the heart and soul of a neighborhood for 4 decades. All from his window.
My life, my childhood, would literally not be what it was without this man's family and how they always made us feel at home year after year, change after change. Even when pieces of it were long gone, when no one remembered why or who we were, they reminded everyone that we were part of this original community in Inwood,
RIP Joe.
