Obituary of Frankie Nunez Sr.

Frankie Nunez Sr was born August 24, 1941 in Lares, Puerto Rico. He passed away with his 2 loving sons, Frankie Jr. & Johnny, present on March 29, 2023.  Frankie lived with Julia Nunez for over 50 years in the Fordham Road section of the Bronx.

Frankie was predeceased by his parents, Sinforoso (Father) & Eduvijes (Mother) and 2 sisters, Patria & Primtiva/Prima.

Frankie was a hard worker throughout his life and always provided for his family.  He was a roofer, salesman (sometimes street vendor), construction worker and recently a security guard. Saying Frankie cared for others was an understatement.  Frankie was somewhat of a "green thumb" helping turn a dog fighting parcel in the back of his apartment to a community garden on Davidson Ave.  It was dubbed "Operation Green Thumb" and he was very proud of it.  Frankie loved Elvis Presley and always had a pair of sunglasses and hairbrush/comb so he could be as cool as Elvis.  Frankie loved Julia and their 2 sons and always was there as a strong male role model.  

Frankie came from a large family of 10 brothers & sisters, their husbands & wives, numerous cousins, nieces/nephews and he truly loved them all.  When Frankie came to visit you, he had a knack of making himself comfortable. A cold Cerveza (beer) was normally in hand and probably his favorite, Budweiser.  

Frankie is survived by Julia, their 2 sons (Frankie Jr & Johnny), 4 sisters (Cruz/Cuchi, Gloria/Gory, Maria & Juanita), 3 Brothers (Efrain, Cresencio/Chito & Lorenzo/Lencho), numerous cousins/nieces & nephews and a wonderful group of friends.

Frankie will truly be missed by all who knew him.   

Visitation will be at The Riverdale Funeral Home, 5044 Broadway New York, NY 10034 on Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 4pm to 8pm.

Burial will be at George Washington Memorial Park 234 Paramus Rd, Paramus, NJ 07652 on Friday April 7, 2023 at 10:30am.

In lieu of flowers, donations of any kind can be made out to Johnny Nunez.
