Obituary of Patsy Wimbish

Patsy Wimbish was born on Saturday, January 28, 1956 in Harlem, New York, to Constance Elaine Wimbish Sr. Patsy departed this life on the afternoon of Saturday, March 18, 2023. A longtime resident of the Bronx, she received her formal education through the New York City Public School system, where she earned her high school diploma from Taft High School.

Patsy had the spirit of an attorney and enrolled at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice where she studied criminal justice and graduated with a bachelor’s degree. She often joked that she only went to college because the city paid a hefty stipend. Her career revolved around public service including time as a case worker with the Bureau of Child Welfare (BCW) and as a corrections counselor with the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, where she ultimately retired after over 28 years of service. 

Her work experiences brought forth a slew of lifelong friends, many of whom are extended family. Patsy took advantage of living her life to the fullest extent. She enjoyed the beach and street fairs and was known to dance until dawn in her prime. Those who knew and loved her can share countless stories about their time with Patsy as she was the friend you could count on to show up.

Patsy was truly a gift from God and will be missed terribly by all who came in contact with her. She leaves the physical world to be welcomed in the arms of those who preceded her in death including her mother, father, sister, and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Autumn and Romaine; her best friends, Faith, Magda and Sheryl; her bonus children, Veronica, Tia, and Shaquille; co-parents, Henry and Priscilla; a host of siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and her amazing friends. 

A memorial service will be held at Riverdale Funeral Home, Inc 5044 Broadway, New York on Sunday 10am-1pm.
