Q: What 3 words best describe Dinorah and why?
A: My beautiful mother was a fighter, a caretaker and a leader.
One of my favorite memories of my mother Dinorah was that she always encouraged me to never give up, to keep trying, to do well, to strive for success, to stay in school and to have faith! I first learned about God and faith thru my mother.
She was the best caretaker to everyone (old and young) and always wanted to make you feel better as soon as she heard you cough or sneeze. Didn't matter, she wanted you to be well.
Mom was a great teacher and leader. She was very smart and strategic for someone with primary school education and taught me so much about life and hard work.
I miss you and love you forever and a day Madre!!
May you rest in peace with the angels and our Lord Jesus Christ.

It is a privilege to be your grandson. Thank you for all you have done for me and for showing me unconditional love. We will always remember you, that is for sure. Erik, Jacob, and I will try to recreate your rice and beans. Dad will always try to remind us to put on an undershirt, not stand in front of a fan, and not go to bed with wet hair. Tia Noralie will undoubtedly create some wild concoction that will cure our colds. These are just a few of the little things that will make me smile and think of you (I won't be smiling about any cod liver oil, though).
You don’t have to worry too much. I want you to know that I'll be okay, no matter what life has in store for me. I've got family and friends, and I know you'll be rooting for me too. As a family, we’ll try to support each other and stay connected, even as time goes on. We'll also keep an eye on Abuelo for you and make sure he doesn't eat too many sweets or junk food.
“When you die, that does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live and in the manner in which you live. So, live. Live. Fight... And when you get too tired to fight then lay down and rest and let somebody else fight for you.”

It’s so hard to summarize a beautiful lifetime, all of our beautiful memories in a few words. We all have a finite amount of time with our families that should never be taken for granted. Being truly loved as she was, makes it so hard to say goodbye. But those we love walk beside us everyday; unseen, unheard but always near.
I still hear your stories, your laugh, your prayers. Thank you for always giving love in everything you do, thank you for your patience and lack of judgement, thank you for always being a safe space, thank you for always supporting this family until your last breath. You live through us, weaved into parts of our hearts and our souls.
God needed you for something greater. I love you so much. My children were so lucky to have you even for a short time. We love you so much.

There was not a plant she did not find and place in water or dirt and it would bloom to life.
There were no Thanksgiving and Christmas people could not wait to order her famous pasteles en oja. One friend bought a freezer just to keep a hundred and eat throughout the year.
There was not a blouse, dress, curtain, or cushion she could not mend or make. She could and would sew even without a pattern.
There was not a soul she did not make time to listen to, encourage and provide for.
Always gentle, patient, and hopeful til the very end. A Champion!
Thank you for shining and sharing your light with all of us. You will be missed but never forgotten.

No había una planta que no encontrara y colocara en agua o tierra y floreciera y cobrara vida.
No hubo Acción de Gracias y Navidad, la gente no podía esperar para ordenar sus famosos pasteles en oja. Una amiga compró un congelador solo para guardar cien y comer durante todo el año.
No había blusa, vestido, cortina o cojín que no pudiera remendar o hacer. Podía coser y lo haría incluso sin un patrón.
No había un alma a la que no se tomara el tiempo de escuchar, animar y proveer.
