Obituary of Luz D Pozo

Please share a memory of Luz to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Luz Dary Pozo passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday November 26, 2022.

Luz was the loving and dedicated Mother to Evelyn and Cesar Pozo Jr and the beloved and devoted wife of Cesar Pozo for 43 years.  She was born and raised in Armenia, Colombia and at the age of 19 she came to the United States and studied cosmetology.

One Thanksgiving at a family gathering at the age of 21 she met the love of her life, her husband Cesar Pozo.  Over that next year their love romance grew each day and they were married a year later. Their love for each other grew stronger and stronger as the years progressed and was just as strong as ever up until her last day. The couple had two children together Evelyn Pozo and Cesar Pozo.  Luz loved being a Mother and enjoyed every single minute of watching her children grow up.  She was present for every milestone in their lives and cherished teaching her children various activities such as riding a bike, playing tennis, ice skating, and placing them in numerous sports and competitions.

She enjoyed watching basketball and was an avid New York Knicks fan.  As a teenager growing up in Colombia she was the captain of her basketball team where she learned to truly love the sport.  She also loved going to soccer games and boxing matches in New York and New Jersey with her husband Cesar.  Her love and passion for all sports was passed down to her children Evelyn and Cesar, which was on full display on Thanksgiving Day 2022 a few days before her passing when the entire family was together watching and rooting during the World Cup.  One of Luz’s favorite places to be was in her kitchen where she could be found cooking and listening and dancing to her favorite music.

Luz was also a devoted Catholic who attended Sunday Mass.  She believed in the power of prayer and created her own prayer alter in her home that she religiously prayed to on a daily basis.  Her faith in God was strong until the very end.

We all can imagine Luz aka Mommy being at peace and flying high and free across the sky.  She is now our Guardian angelwho will always be watching over her family and friends.  Her loving, funny, yet stoic personality will always be remembered.  She was the love of many peoples lives and we could all know that she passed away in peace knowing that her family was well.

“I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.  I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.  I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.  I’d like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life is done.”

God saw her getting tired, and a cure was not to be. He wrapped her in his loving arms and whispered “Come with me.”  She suffered much in silence, her spirit did not bend.  She faced her pain with courage, until the very end.  She tried so hard to stay with us but her fight was not in vain, God took her to His loving home and freed her from the pain.
