Obituary of Maritza Moreno

Maricela (Maritza) Moreno passed away in the Lord on September 30, 2022 at age of 77. She is survived by her sisters (Ana Frank, Carmen, Belinda), husband of 51-years Felix Moreno, her children and their spouses Shanny & Jessica, Sheffer & Yeraldine,  Horddyt, Pamela & Monique, Raibely & Louis as well as 9 grandchildren, plus many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Maricela loved life, music, dancing, family, and her home neighborhood of San Carlos. She was dedicated to her community, worked as an educator for the DOE as well as Cursillista to her church, Our Lady Queen of Martyrs, and its mission of feeding and caring for the community of which she was an active leader. She also created a Dominican Folklore Dance group that performed in parades and for dignitaries for 15 years.No matter where she was or who she was with, you could count on her smile and infectious energy.

Memorial viewing will be held at the Riverdale Funeral, 5044 Broadway Ave., New York, NY 10034 on Saturday October 8th from 3-8pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in her honor ATTN: ULTREYA Group, Our Lady Queens of Martyrs Church, 91 Arden Street, New York, NY 10040 - so that her mission of caring for the community can be continued.
