Obituary of Georgia Theophanous

Georgia Theophanous entered into rest on Thursday, August 26, 2021. 

She was the loving wife of the late Savvas Theophanous. Devoted mother of Demetrios, Alexandra, and the late Faith.  Beloved grandmother (Yiayia) of Faith, Georgia, Katerina, Anastasia and Philip.  Beloved daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend of many.

Georgia was born and raised in Kyrenia, Cyprus. She came to New York, NY at the age of 23, and then married Savvas the next year. They owned and operated Theo’s Food Market in Astoria, NY from the early 70’s to the late 80’s.

Reposing at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 10 Mill Road, New Rochelle, NY on Tuesday, August 31, 9:30 – 11:00 A.M. EST.  Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 A.M.

Burial  at 1:30 P.M. EST at Flushing Cemetery, 163-06 46^th Ave, Flushing, NY 11358

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Georgia’s memory to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox church in New Rochelle New York or St. Jude’s Children’s hospital.
