Dr. George Bousvaros, of Larchmont NY passed away on January 19, 2016 after a brief illness. He was 86 years old. He was born in Thessaloniki Greece, the only child of Athanasios and Glykeria Bousvaros. He graduated with the highest honors from the University of Athens Medical School, completed postgraduate training in cardiology in London and Canada, and immigrated to the United States in 1966. During his illustrious career as a physician, he was Chief of the divisions of cardiology at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Albany and Metropolitan Hospital in Manhattan, and Professor of Medicine at Albany Medical School and the New York Medical College. After giving up his administrative duties, he continued to serve the people of New York as a cardiologist at Lincoln Hospital until he became ill. He was an outstanding husband, father, physician, teacher, and human being. He is survived by his wife Olga, two children Dr. Athos Bousvaros and Maria Tollefson, their spouses Dr. Margaret Lotz and Dr. Terry Tollefson and three grandchildren Sophia, George and Byron. The wake will be held at the Coxe and Graziano funeral home in Mamaroneck, NY on Friday January 29 from 5-9pm. The service and burial will be on Saturday January 30 at 10 am at the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in New Rochelle, NY. Flowers may be sent to the funeral home.
