Obituary of Mrs. Wynne
Catherine Wynne, fondly known by all as "Mrs. Wynne" passed away peacefully on May 1, 2021. She was born on July 16, 1931 in Castlerea, Roscommon, Ireland where she was raised by a family, not knowing her parents. She came to America on April 1, 1951 and settled in the neighborhood of Inwood, New York. Here, she reunited with and married her late husband Anthony, and together they started a family. Anthony passed soon thereafter, she raised her young family by becoming a housekeeper and caring for the elderly. She valued education and reminded us always, “to get that piece of paper.” Her son, Anthony, a lawyer for the state of New York and she was the inspiration for her daughter Patricia to found One World Middle School in the Bronx. She lived her life displaying kindness to all and lived her mantra that “it never cost nothing to be nice.” She, without exception, went above and beyond to do a good deed for anyone she encountered. She was inspirational and her spirit always brought joy to those around her. She was a devoted friend to many and treasured all her relationships. In her last days she was surrounded by her loving family, her son, Anthony, her daughter Patricia, her granddaughter Cailyn and her loved ones: Carter, Ryan, Ahmed, Mary Fahy, Tara and Cheryl. Her legacy lives on in all the lives she’s touched throughout her years. To have known her was to have loved her. The world was a better place with Mrs. Wynne in it.
