Obituary of Maria Matilda Ramirez

Maria Matilda (nee Rodriguez) Ramirez age 90 , of Inwood entered into rest on Wednesday February 17, 2021. Maria was born in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico and moved to New York City as a young girl. Beloved wife of Pedro Ramirez; loving mother of Pedro and his wife Kathleen, Manuel and his wife Kimberly, Ruth and her spouse Pattiann. Cherished grandmother of Caitlin, Alejandro, Manny, JD, Giuliana and Sabrina. She had a strong faith and was an active parishioner in Good Shepherd Church. She worked for many years as the bilingual secretary at Good Shepherd School. After retiring from her position Maria continued to volunteer in the Rectory office. She enjoyed being involved with the church, cooking and spending time with her family telling stories and sitting in Isham Park. Maria moved through life with a profound strength and sacrifice. She was assertive and strong willed with a particular emphasis on her faith and family. She will be deeply missed by family, friends and anyone who knew her. The family will be present to receive friends on Tuesday February 23, 2021 from 5-8 PM at The Riverdale Funeral Home, at 5044 Broadway, NY. NY. located in the Inwood section of Manhattan. her funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday February 24, 2021 at 10:00AM at The Good Shepherd RC Church @ the corner of Broadway and Isham Street.
