Obituary of Hector Emilio Minaya Tavarez

Hector Emilio Minaya Tavarez, 55, of Dominican Republic passed away on July 7th, 2017 in Yonkers, NY. Funeral Service will be held at Riverdale Funeral Home (5044 Broadway - 214th St) on July 13th, 2017 between 4-8pm. Riverdale Funeral Home are handling the funeral arrangements. Hector is preceded in death by his mother Lubalda Tavarez, aunt Leonida Tavarez, uncles Bartolo Tavarez and Miguel Tavares, grandmothers Albertina Tavarez and Mercedes Lozano and grandfather Benjamin Minaya. Hector was a funny, caring, vibrant, and high-spirted man. He was self-made and stubbornly self-reliant. Hector worked as a Refrigeration Technician for over 25 years throughout the City of New York and Westchester. He will always be remembered as a loving man whose greatest passion was the love of his children, family, and helping others. The generosity he expressed with his money matched the enormous generosity of his spirit. Hector is survived by his five children: Lovechirnise Vega Minaya of Catskill, NY, Lurdes Minaya Weathersby and husband Charles of Roswell, NM, Yolainny Solainny Minaya of Yonkers, NY, Jenepher Lubarda Minaya of Queens, NY, Hector Minaya, Jr. and his 7 grandchildren whom he loved dearly. Hector is also survived by his four sisters and four brothers: Carmen and Husband Geraldo Paredes, Hipolito and wife Yomaris Minaya, Antonio and wife Jaimy Minaya, Franklin and wife Jarocha Tavarez, Sarah Vargas, Lourdes and wife Leticia Perez-Castillo, Robin and wife Megan Anderson, Nancy Minaya, and numerous, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. We love you, Papi, and you will forever be in our hearts. Our hearts ache without you by our side, but we know you are now pain-free and happily walking in paradise. We love you always and forever.
