Obituary of Fay Raptis

Raptis, Fay passed away in Florida on December 31, 2012 at her home under the care of Hospice by the Sea. She was 66 years old. Fay was born in Athens, Greece on April 28, 1946. She lived there with her parents and 3 siblings until she fell in love with Louis Raptis her husband of 26years and moved to the United States. After starting their lives together in the Bronx, NY owning a flower shop they moved to Orangeburg, NY where they lived happily and raised their children for 20 years until her husband’s passing in 1996. During that time she learned to speak English fluently and even finished her associate degree in accounting at Rockland Community College. She was a devoted wife and mother that stressed the importance of a good education and how fortunate we truly were to be in this beautiful country. She moved to Florida with her family in 2000 where she resided since in the Delray Beach/Boca Raton area. Fay is survived by her significant other Achilles Rakkou of 15 years. She is also survived by her son Theodore (wife, Vickie and grandson Elias) and her daughter Vickie (and granddaughter Naya). Friends and family will gather to remember, honor and share their love for her from 5-8 pm on Friday, January 4th at Glick Family Funeral Home, 3600 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton, FL. Funeral service will be held in Boca Raton at St. Mark’s Greek Orthodox Church at 11:30 am on Saturday, January 5th with burial to follow at the Boca Raton Cemetery. Charitable donations may be made in Fay’s memory to St. Mark’s Greek Orthodox Church (her beautiful loving parish) and Boca Raton Regional Hospital (where she received excellent and compassionate care).
