Obituary of Gregory J. Salamone

Gregory J. Salamone, 35, passed away at Calvary Hospital fighting to the finish against melanoma. Born in Rome, NY, he grew up in Liverpool, NY and was a 1997 graduate of Liverpool High School. He received a degree in Radio, TV and Communication from Marist College in 2001 and interned at Late Night with Conan O'Brien. Greg was a member of the track and cross-country teams in high school and college. He was a carrier for the Syracuse newspapers, bat boy for the Syracuse Chiefs AAA baseball team and videographer for WSTM-TV in Syracuse, NY. After moving to New York City, Greg was employed by IgoUgo, Travelocity, Tripfilms and, most recently, Shutterstock. His passion was traveling to places not frequented by tourists including Mali, Uganda, Congo, Yemen, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan. Gregory is survived by his parents Michael & Rosemary Salamone, Liverpool, NY; brothers Paul, Berlin, Germany; Christopher, Bronx, NY; and Jonathan (Danielle), Penfield, NY; a neice, Madeline; and his girlfriend, Tracy Tong. The Family will be present here at the Riverdale Funeral Home, 5044 Broadway, on Wednesday from 5-9PM for his life celebration.
