Obituary of Stamos O. Zades

Stamos Zades of White Plains, New York entered into rest on Tuesday November 26, 2013 at his residence.. Mr. Zades was born on July 19, 1922 in Springfield MA. He entered into the service in September of 1942 and was commissioned second lieutenant in August of 1944. His Military locations include, Maxwell Field,AL; Avon Pk., FL; Gunter Field, AL; George Field, IL; Dyersburg, TN; and Knedeshaw England. He served with the 388th BG, 562nd Sqdn. Lt. Zades was discharged in July 1945. His medals and decorations include DFC, Air Medal w/3OLCs, Distinguished Unit Badge, EAME Campaign Medal w/4 Battle Stars, Air Offensive Europe, Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland. His wife Katherine died in 1983. He is survived by his two children Helaina and Stephen; and two grandchildren Katharine and Alexander. Mr. Zades was the Director of Admissions for New York Military Academy; Dean of Students for The College of Staten Island; Professor Emeritus CUNY/College of Staten Island He is President Emeritus of the Prophet Elias G.O. Church parish council and a member of HEPA. His family will be present to receive friends on Friday from 4-8PM at The RIVERDALE FUNERAL HOME 5044 Broadway at the corner of 214th Street NYC. His funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday @ 11:30AM at The Prophet Elias G.O. Church, 14 Leroy Place, Yonkers, NY. Donations in his memory can be made to: The Stamos O.
