John Tsapanos entered into final rest on August 20, 2026. Beloved husband to Vasiliki (Zougoulou) Tsapanos. Loving father of Dina and her husband Spyro Pappas, Martha Tsapanos, and Christina Tsapanos. Cherished papou to Ollia Pappas and her husband Emir Guerrero, and Nicolette Pappas and her fiancé Michael Hansen.
John was born in a small village in Eptahori, Greece and, as a young man, came to the United States in search of a better life and greater opportunities. He arrived with hope, determination, and a deep appreciation for the family and traditions he carried with him from Greece. He settled in Corona, Queens, New York, where he built the life he had dreamed of.
John’s greatest accomplishment was the family he created. He and Vasiliki raised three daughters, instilling in them the values of family, perseverance, love, and pride in their Greek heritage. His daughters and, later, his granddaughters became the greatest expression of the life he built and the values he held dear.
As a husband, father, and papou, John took great pride in his family. His love, sacrifices, traditions, and the lessons he passed down will continue through his daughters and granddaughters for generations to come. His legacy lives on in them - in the family he brought together, the memories they will treasure, and the love they will carry forward.
John will be dearly missed by his loving family and friends. Though he is no longer with them, the life he built and the love he gave will remain a lasting part of his family’s story.
Friends and family will gather at St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church, 51 Paramus Road, Paramus, NJ 07652, on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Funeral services will follow at St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church at 11:30 a.m. Interment will take place at Westwood Cemetery in Westwood, New Jersey.
