Atasha Neal Obituary

Atasha Neal Obituary

With profound sadness and everlasting love, we celebrate the life of Atasha Neal Zelko, who was born on February 14, 1977, to Regina Clyburn and Jeffery Neal. Raised in Washington Heights alongside her brother, Desmond, and her beloved grandmother, Essie Moon Neal, Atasha grew into a vibrant, and unforgettable woman whose presence brought joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Atasha attended Park West High School and later earned an Associate’s Degree in Medical Coding and Billing from Monroe College. Atasha worked at Betances Medical Center for years as a medical records clerk and later became the medical records supervisor. She worked at Montefiore Hospital and spent many years serving others as a food service professional. Atasha did her best to live her life to the fullest. She loved to get dressed up to go to the casino, on boat trips and anything that included music.

Atasha found love with Gentian Zelko. On March 9, 2011, they welcomed their daughter, Gentiana “Chi Chi” Zelko, into the world. Chi Chi was the light of Atasha’s life, her greatest joy, and the person she loved most deeply. Becoming a mother was one of Atasha’s proudest accomplishments, and she devoted herself wholeheartedly to her daughter.

Atasha embraced every day with enthusiasm and gratitude. She enjoyed arts and crafts, and cherished time spent with family and friends.

Atasha leaves behind a large and loving family who will forever cherish her memory. She is survived by her parents, Regina and Jeffery Neal; her husband, Gentian Zelko; and her beloved daughter, Gentiana “Chi Chi” Zelko. She is also survived by her brothers, Desmond and Justin; her sister, Latoya; her sister-in-law, Alexandria; and a host of loving aunts and uncles, including Geraldine, Ronald (Butch), Althea, Leo, Valerie, Abbie and Felicia.

She also leaves behind her cherished nephews, Elijah, Shaq, and Shammond; her devoted best friend, Amanda; more than 30 cousins, including but not limited to, Shiron (Apple), Tremaine, Ronna, Terron, Ron, Sheldon, Jazz, Jason, Tiffany, and Alfreida; and her beloved 145 family, whose love and support meant so much to her.

Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort in the love she shared, the joy she brought, and the memories she leaves behind.

Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.

We love you always, Tash.
