Vincenza Maria “Marie” Economides, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 26th 2026, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Maria was born in the Bronx on December 12th 19something where she was raised and had her first job rolling meatballs for 2 cents each. This job grew into a passion to cook with love. Guests never left her house without leftovers and you weren’t welcomed back until you agreed that it was gravy and not sauce.

She met Steven Economides in a pizza shop in 1977 and they married in July 1981. Their 45 years together were filled with love, laughter, macaroni, and memories.

Maria is survived by her 3 #’1’s: Anthony Joseph, Giuliana Wendy, and Gianna Marie, and a few others.

Maria loved the beach, margaritas, pizza, General Hospital, and her grandkids. She just liked the rest of us. Her final wishes were to let her loved ones know that she was not really 29 like she claimed to have been every birthday since she really was 29.

Visiting will be held on Friday, June 5th from 6-9pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac. Funeral will be Saturday, June 6th at 11am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in New Rochelle. Burial to follow at Kensico Cemetery in Vahalla.
