Vassilios (Basil) P. Livanos, a loving father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 72 on January 4, 2026 surrounded by his three children: Peter Livanos (Amanda Livanos), Katie Mitsos (Peter Mitsos) and Andrew Livanos (Renee Livanos).
Hard-working, generous and selfless, Basil spent much of his life building a beautiful life for his family. He was a devoted Greek Orthodox Christian and active member of his parish at Holy Trinity Church in New Rochelle, New York.
Basil attended Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, New York where he fostered his dearest friendships that were cherished until his final days. He earned his BA and MBA in International Business from the NYU Stern School of Business in 1971-1976.
Basil’s career in Investment Management included serving as the Senior Vice President at AllianceBernstein — followed by leading Albion Investors as Managing Director where he oversaw the firm’s private investment portfolio for over 30 years. He acted as a mentor to many industry colleagues who respected him greatly.
Basil was a man known for his giving spirit, thoughtful nature and steadfast loyalty. His greatest pride and joy were his six grandchildren: Olivia, Chloe, Peter, Penelope, Niko and Teddy, who affectionately regarded him as the “World’s Best Pappou”. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
Visitation will take place at Westchester Funeral Home in Eastchester on Wednesday, 1/7 from 5-8 pm
Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in New Rochelle on Thursday, 1/8 at 9:45 am
Burial will follow at his final resting place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson
