In Loving Memory of Virginia Alatriste November 24, 1931 – July 30, 2025 Virginia Alatriste, beloved mother, grandmother, and matriarch, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, in her bed, surrounded by her loving family. She was 93 years old. Born on November 24, 1931, in New York City to Alejandro and Angelina Garcia, Virginia was the last surviving daughter among ten siblings. She carried the strength of her roots throughout her life—a survivor, fiercely independent, and full of grace. Virginia was a woman of deep devotion to her family. She loved to cook, and her kitchen was the heart of her home, where memories were made and love was shared in every meal. She took immense pride in being both a mother and a father figure, a provider, and a source of unwavering support to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  A woman who was transparent with her feelings.  Twice widowed, Virginia was predeceased by her first husband, George Eugene Diaz, and her second husband, Carlos Alatriste. She faced each chapter of her life with courage and resilience, never losing the warmth and compassion that defined her. She is survived by her children: Rita Mary Rivera, Vincent George Diaz, Annette Diaz-Cortes, and Alexander Alatriste. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Diane Diaz, whose memory lives on in the hearts of all who loved her. Virginia’s legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Their strength, love, and unity are a reflection of the life and values she passed on so generously. She will be remembered not only for her resilience and independence but for the deep love she gave so freely. Her spirit, her wisdom, and her warmth will live on in our hearts—always and forever.
