Obituary of Aroti Jayachandran

Aroti Jayachandran entered into rest on Monday, April 14, 2025.

It is with a heavy heart that I report the passing of my mom. Some background on her life. She was born a scion of one of the most important tea houses in India(Assam). From an upper class family, she immigrated here over 5 decades ago and raised her family. She worked as an accountant for EF Hutton and survived 5 mergers ending up as AVP for Citigroup. In NYC and in Washington Heights she formed a tremendous bond with the community. They including the merchants all knew and loved her. She knew like 50% of the people in her coop and they loved her as well. She has also had some great roommates and wonderful lifelong friends, Ruby, Richard, Sunandar,etc. When my dad was struggling with work, she put me through Columbia and was the nurturing force in my life.  A blurb on her grandfather Siva Prasad Barooah https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siva_Prasad_Barooah

Visitation will be at Riverdale Funeral Home, 5044 Broadway, New York, NY 10034 on Friday, April 25, 2025 from 4 pm to  8pm.

Interment will be held at Kensico Cemetery, 273 Lakeview Avenue, Valhalla, NY
