Aroti was a sweet, very genuine soul. I got to know her quite well, while we worked together for over 14 years. During frequent get-togethers, for over 19 years beyond that, I got to know her even better.
* * I came to enjoy her company more and more, over time, and I came to be more keenly aware of that which we shared, in terms of positive outlook, comfortable but humble-enough lifestyles, and in regard to love-of-family.
* * Aroti was a true spiritual friend to so many of us, and she so appreciated an ongoingly meaningful and joyful group repartee. And it was great watching her partake in that, and it was great watching her enjoy that, and she certainly did !!
* * She loved good conversation and she loved to share good news and smiles. She spoke about her husband often, with much love, and she spoke about Sanjay, her son, much, with loads of love. She was much more into realness and helpful, genuine involvement than showiness or " 'achievement'-too-much" "proven-on-paper."
* * She gave great advice, as "she said what she meant and meant what she said." And she loved a little recognition and concern shown back. * * We came from original backgrounds that were different, but each with their same teachings of love, spiritual abundance, keeping G-d in our lives, and respect for good, decent people.
* * Aroti, I hold you close as I let you go as I keep you close, and I persevere. Thank you for having so "been-there" while you were here !!! * * Much love and a big "G-d Bless" !!!

I was blessed to have Aroti aunty in my life. Not only was she a kind compassionate person, she also had a good sense of humor. Growing up in India, Aroti baideu to me was a much older cousin who lived in a fascinating place called New York. Despite the distance and the years which separated us, she was always very affectionate and friendly towards me.. To her I Ialways remained Rimu.
I loved her joie de vi·vre
and I can still hear the girlish laughter she would break into when recounting one of her many stories.
Though I will miss visiting her on my trips to NYC now, I find solace in that she lived a full and long life. Rest in peace, Aroti baideu.

I’m very grateful that I got the chance to meet Aroti and share her home during my time in New York City. From the beginning, she welcomed me kindly and warmly, and became like family to me. She always had a smile and a kind word, and she made me feel safe and truly welcome.
Even after I moved away, I kept her in my thoughts and visited her whenever I was back in the city. She didn’t forget me either and always welcomed me again with the same warmth. I’m very thankful that I got to see her again last month.
It makes me sad to realize that she’s gone.
Rest in peace, dear Aroti. You left a mark on the lives of those around you, and you will be remembered with love.

I had the pleasure of visiting her several times in her NY apartment and her home in Calcutta, India. And I always enjoyed our conversations and her welcoming spirit. My memory of goes back decades--first as a child visitig their estate Bungalow in Rajabari,than as a school boy in Shillong spending weekends from boarding school at the beautiful house by the Lake, Ashley Hall.But it was in Calcutta as a management trainee that I really got to know her. I remember when Aroti came to visit Sanjay and Shiela some time back in Pasadena. She had come with her very fun sister whom I had met in India perhaps a year or two earlier. They came over to visit me as well and it was so lovely to have them over. Sanjay said she always asked about me whenever he visited New York and I always loved to hear that. It felt very sweet to be remembered. Rest well Aroti knowing that you leave behind a wonderful son and daughter-in-law Sanjay and Shiela who cherish you dearly. I wish you well on your new journey.
