Obituary of Olympia Zappas

Olympia Zappas, of Milford CT, passed away peacefully Friday August 12 surrounded by family. She was born in Riverdale, NY as the youngest of George and Mary Kotiadis’s five children.

Olympia met her future husband and love of her life Andrew at a church dance in Forest Hills.

Throughout her life she loved to travel to Greece and California, cook traditional Greek food and spend summers in Lake Luzerne and Saratoga Springs.

She will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 68 years, Andrew, a son Sam Zappas and daughter in law Heidi Bunes of Baltimore, MD; a son Gregory Zappas and daughter in law Sarah Zappas of Laguna Niguel, CA; four grandchildren, Andrew Zappas, Lauren Zappas, Anne Zappas and Caroline Zappas, sisters in law Viola Kotiadis and Jeanne Kotiadis, many nieces and nephews and two granddogs Penny and Millie. The Family will be present to receive friends on Wednesday August 17 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Westchester Funeral Home in Eastchester, NY. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday August 18 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in New Rochelle, NY, with her Interment to follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.
